Digital assembly reports with Power Apps – less paper, more efficiency

For one of our customers in the weighing and plant engineering sector, we have developed a customized power app that digitizes the entire process of filling out and archiving assembly reports. This eliminates the need for tedious work with pen and paper when fitters are on site at the customer’s premises. Instead, all relevant information is conveniently recorded in the app in a structured manner – at any time, on the move and on a project-specific basis.

Clear structure thanks to various tabs

The Power app is divided into several tabs that clearly illustrate the assembly process:

  • Header dataOrder number, customer, location, customer document number and cost center can be entered here. In addition, the work carried out can be documented and trolleys used can be added.

  • Time entriesFitters enter their working hours directly in digital form – on a daily and project-related basis. Overtime or mileage allowances can also be recorded.

  • MaterialAll materials used and the corresponding document numbers are stored so that even short-term purchases for the order are clearly documented.

  • ConclusionIn the final step, additional information such as the provision of weights, small materials or overnight stays for the fitters is added. Finally, the customer signs directly on the mobile device – the installation order is now complete.

Advantages for fitters and companies

The digital solution ensures greater transparency and efficiency:

  • Fitters have their reports to hand at all times and save time on documentation.

  • The company benefits from complete, structured and immediately available data.

  • Media disruptions and mountains of paper are a thing of the past.

This power app makes the entire assembly process more modern, faster and error-free – real added value for everyone involved.

Data collection:
In the app, data is entered via structured masks, mandatory fields prevent gaps and ensure complete data. Handwritten reports, on the other hand, are often incomplete or difficult to read.

Availability:
Digital installation reports with Power Apps are immediately available in the cloud and can be used on the move. Paper documents have to be managed on site or laboriously forwarded by post or fax.

Accuracy:
Automatic validations reduce errors and ensure that all information is clear. Handwritten reports, on the other hand, are prone to typing errors or unclear entries.

Time required:
Fitters enter their data directly on site – quickly, on the move and without duplication of effort. Paper reports often have to be typed up afterwards, which costs additional time.

Transparency:
All employees use a standardized format, changes can be tracked digitally and confirmed with a signature. Paper reports offer no traceability here.

Archiving:
Digital assembly reports with Power Apps are stored centrally, can be searched immediately and are archived in a space-saving manner. Paper files take up a lot of space and have to be searched through manually.

Costs:
The digital solution requires a one-off investment, but reduces paper, printing and mailing costs in the long term.

Environmental aspect:
Less paper consumption means greater sustainability and an active contribution to environmental protection.
